Want An Intimate Wedding Ceremony And Large Reception? Find The Right Venue

Posted on: 15 March 2018

When you look at family members, friends, co-workers, and strangers having weddings, you may notice that most of them go the traditional route. But, you may be interested in having an intimate wedding ceremony where you are there with your spouse and closest family members. At the same time, you may want a large reception with family, friends, and distant relatives.

This can make things a little tricky when it comes to planning a wedding because you will have a different guest count for the ceremony and reception. But, finding the right venue will help you have a smooth experience from the beginning of the ceremony to the end of the reception.

Reserve a Small Ceremony Space

When you want to have an intimate ceremony, you do not want to reserve a large venue for this event because it can make the space feel rather desolate. Whether you want the venue to be inside or outside, you should make a reservation for space with a low guest capacity. This will also save you money, which you can use to put towards the more demanding reception costs.

Get a Large Reception Area

The next step is making sure you get a large enough reception area to fit all the guests. If you know that you will be doing a lot of dancing and moving around, you should prioritize a reception venue that has more than enough space. If you were to reserve a venue with a maximum guest count that is close to the number of people who accepted your invitation, you may feel cramped.

Since you will have a difficult time visualizing the number of guests at your reception, you will want to rely on the venue's layout for the seating, dining stations, and dance floor. An outdoor area may be worth prioritizing because the open air can make everything feel spacious.

Split Up the Two Events

Setting up the ceremony and reception will require extra coordination from vendors because they will not be able to use the same numbers for each event. You will need to give them a guest count for the ceremony and another guest count for the reception. This makes it worthwhile to find a wedding package that fits your needs or make a custom one for a wedding venue.

Having unique needs for your wedding ceremony and reception is more than acceptable. But, finding the right venue will maximize the chance of everyone having an incredible time.
